About Kitgum SACCO


Today, Kitgum SACCO membership has grown from 30 members in 2001 to 18,320 members by 31st December 2020. In 2002, members’ savings grew from UGX 72.817 million shillings to UGX 5.576 billion shillings in 2020 and loan portfolio increased from UGX 105.175 million shillings to UGX 4.904 billion shillings. Share capital increased from UGX 42.620 million shillings to UGX 1,248 Billion shillings. The membership of the SACCO is open to all local people residing from Acholi Sub Region.

Our History

Kitgum Co-operative Savings and Credit Society Limited (Kitgum SACCO) was started in 2000 initially registered as an Association with technical support from Kitgum District Private Sector Promotion Centre. It was started as a project initiated under the income generation and sustainable livelihood programme. The SACCO evolved from the Village Bank Model offering credit and savings services for its members. On 5th April 2001 following a special Annual General Meeting resolution, the Association was transformed into Kitgum SACCO and registered with the Registrar of Cooperatives with a registration No. 6417/RCS on 24th May 2001 with a membership of 30 shareholding members with the objective of developing and extending quality financial products that meet her member’s needs.
Kitgum SACCO derives its mandate from the Co-operative Societies Act 1991 and its By-laws. The affairs of the SACCO are directed by the Board of Directors as provided for in the By-laws and checked by the Audit and Supervisory Committee (SUPCO) with both reporting to the AGM. The Board of Director’s functions through four Committees of the Executive, Loan and Legal, Finance, Procurement and Administration,

Education, Mobilization and Marketing.

The Board has delegated the Day to day operations of the SACCO to the paid Management staff headed by the General Manager.
Kitgum SACCO operates through six Branches of the Main Branch located along Plot 1 Bwona Gweno Road, Lokung Branch (Lamwo District), Omiya Anyima Branch (Kitgum District), Palabek Kal Branch (Lamwo District), Agoro Branch (Lamwo District), Pajule Branch (Pader District) and Orom satellite Branch (Orom SubCounty)
